Celebrating ‘developing country’ status in TCA March 22, 2018

The Carter Academy (TCA) brought out a joyous rally, with banners and festoons to celebrate the country’s great achievement of ‘developing country’ status ‘ at the academy campus on Thursday (March 22) in a befitting manner as elsewhere across the country. Earlier, Bangladesh has become eligible to graduate to a developing country from a least developed one as it has met all the three criteria for the first time for getting out of the LDC bloc.

Publisher of South Asia Journal Mr. Ghulam M. Suhrawardi, the Founder of the academy, has inaugurated the rally. In this time Principal of the academy Professor Md. Ismail Topader was also present. The rally started from the assembly ground that ended at the same after parading some of the thoroughfares of the village. Vice Principal, faculty members, administrative and management staff including the students of TCA with due festivity, joined the rally.

Afterwards, a short discussion was held at the assembly ground where Principal of the academy Professor Md. Ismail Topader spoke and thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for this achievement. He also cited that Bangladesh is trying to gain the status of Developed country by 2041 and, UN and other development partners for assisting the process.

The UN Committee for Development Policy (CDP), a United Nations panel, made an announcement on the country’s eligibility at a meeting at the UN headquarters in New York on Friday. This begins the graduation process for Bangladesh, which could receive official Developing Country status by 2024.
